Wide, brute, powerful, therefore politically incorrect and a little old-fashioned: with the M2, BMW is once again bringing out some power with combustion engine and rear-wheel drive.

In the midst of the upheavals in the industry, BMW is once again presenting old-school power: From April 2023, the Series 2 coupe will also be available as an M2. At prices starting at 72,800 euros, its turbo six-cylinder engine delivers 460 hp.
The design is provocatively powerful – from the huge air intakes in the front to the wide flared fenders and the extra wide rear. According to the manufacturer, the two-door is based on a shortened floor of the M3, which costs around 13,000 euros, and also takes care of a large part of the chassis and transmission.
At 4.58 meters, on the other hand, it is 21 centimeters shorter than the M3, has a wheelbase of eleven centimeters less and weighs about two hundred kilos less. Performance is reduced by only 20 HP and maximum torque is the same at 550 Newton meters. The M2 comes standard with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, but is available with a manual gearbox if desired, but only as rear-wheel drive.
At best, the athlete accelerates from a standstill to 100 km / h in 4.1 seconds and reaches a maximum of 285 kilometers per hour. BMW specifies consumption at 9.7 liters per 100 kilometers (CO2 emissions: 218 g / km).
