Elon Musk: The strange “Burnt Hair” perfume is launched.

“The best perfume on the planet” – so Elon Musk describes his recently introduced perfume, which bears the name “Burnt Hair”. And it gets even stranger.

Elon Musk is launching his perfume. He announced it on the Twitter short messaging service early Wednesday night. The fragrance, which bears the name “Burnt Hair” (German: burnt hair), is now available for 105 euros on the website of his company “The Boring Company”.

The perfume is marketed as an “essence of repulsive desire” – the launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023. The offer appears to be of great interest: within a few hours, more than 10,000 bottles have already been sold and sales have been generated for over a million dollars, he announced on his Twitter channel within hours of the start of sales.

According to the press and the reception on social networks, it seems obvious that this is a sophisticated PR campaign. Not only does the fragrance’s unusual name and questionable self-designation suggest a stunt, but Musk’s communication suggests it as well.

He jokes on Twitter why he waited so long before releasing a perfume – after all, his name would already suggest a future in the perfume industry.

“Musk” is English and means “musk”, a strong-smelling secretion of the male musk deer that was used in the past to make perfumes and soaps. Nowadays, musk is mostly replaced by industrially produced fragrances.

His Boring Company, a $ 5.7 billion tunneling and infrastructure company, sold $ 500 each in early 2018, raising $ 10 million. He also sold 50,000 Boring Company hats.

Musk’s ambitions over the years have ranged from colonizing Mars to creating a new sustainable energy economy, and in the process he built Tesla, the SpaceX rocket company, and smaller companies.

Musk then announced in April that he plans to acquire Twitter for $ 44 billion. In July, referring to Twitter’s alleged false statements about the number of bogus accounts on the platform, he later stated that he would not complete the purchase. Musk and Twitter have sued each other. A few days ago, Musk made a U-turn and said he intends to finalize the deal as agreed on April 25th.
