The Houston Astros defeated the Mariners 8-7 in the comeback win after Yordan Alvarez lost the home run

The Houston Astros pulled off a wonderful clutch win in the first game against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.

The Astros lost 7-5 in the ninth inning with two ons and two outs when Yordan Alvarez stepped into the box.

He faced Mariners’ Robbie Ray, who had stepped in to face the All-Star designated hitter.

Ray threw two pitches and on the second Alvarez hit a walk-off home run to earn the win.

Alvarez’s three-run home run cemented the Houston Astros’ first lead in the contest and a walk-off win that set the tone in Game 1 of the series.
