Sixers fans are taking aim at Ben Simmons after a clip of him kicking an airball at Nets practice went viral

Ben Simmons’ passion for shooting has apparently followed him to Brooklyn, and Sixers fans are enjoying a now-viral clip of him from last weekend.

The Nets held their famous “Practice in the Park” at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Sunday, and a clip surfaced of Ben Simmons casually taking a midrange shot at the event on Tuesday.

It didn’t go well.

Simmons, notorious for his aversion to shots outside the restricted area, missed an attempt with an air ball when his shot went wide of the target.

Despite the fact that the erroneous shot wasn’t taken in a serious practice scenario – the event is more about allowing fans to get a close-up look at the players in a relaxed setting – it was reminiscent of the Australian’s time with the Sixers.

“Now you know the struggles of the Sixers fans. Have fun with him,” one person tweeted about the miss.

“It was a pass,” another obvious Sixers fan joked about the playmaker.

A tweet with the video has over 70,000 likes at the time of writing.

Simmons often infuriated Sixers fans, both with his inability and unwillingness to film outside in Philadelphia.

He made just five three-pointers in four seasons with the franchise and shot a paltry 34.2 percent from the free throw line in the 2020-21 playoffs when the team rebounded from the Hawks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Simmons didn’t play last season as he was dealing with mental health issues and back problems but is now a bull’s eye for a Nets team who can certainly use their defensive and passing skills.

Even without an effective jump shot, Simmons was named to three All-Star teams and two All-Defensive teams.

With arguably the best supporting cast of his career around him in Brooklyn, a change of scenery could be just what his career needs to get back on track.
