Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo was sent off after just nine seconds in Ligue 1

OG Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo has erased the record for the fastest red card in France’s top flight after being sent off after just nine seconds.

The former Barcelona centre-back was sent off in the opening seconds of the Ligue 1 clash against Angers after thwarting an obvious scoring chance.

Angers striker Abdallah Sima got the 22-year-old on the ball but was brought down while charging on goal.

Referee Bastien Dechepy awarded the free kick and immediately showed the Frenchman a red card. It is by far the fastest dismissal in Ligue 1.

It’s also Todibo’s second brace of the season as he conceded another in Nice’s 1-0 defeat by Clermont Foot last month.

His dismissal not only broke the record in France, but is also among the fastest in football history.

The Frenchman trotted off, leaving his side in a real cucumber. However, Lucien Favre’s side almost made it to the half-time equaliser, but had to concede just before the break.

Former Tottenham ace Nabil Bentaleb broke the deadlock for Angers and added to the home side’s misery.

Nice have had a stunning start to the season, winning just two of their first seven games.
