Mike Evans laughs at fears he could be suspended for a fight with Marshon Lattimore

Mike Evans has offered his side of the story following the onfield brawl in which he met the New Orleans Saints’ Marshon Lattimore after colliding with Evans’ Tampa Bay teammate Tom Brady.

Lattimore and Evans were scrapped for their parts. Lattimore put his hands on Brady and slapped Lee Fournette after the duo exchanged words and Evans then came out of nowhere to knock Lattimore to the ground.

Speaking in the dressing room afterwards, Evans seemed to suggest that things should be left on the field and that neither he nor his opponent Lattimore should face further punishment.

“It gets hot when you get to New Orleans,” Evans told the Tampa Bay Times. “They are a good team, a physical team.

“I just see Lattimore hitting Lee [Fournette] in the face or something and then shoved Tom.

‘That’s all I saw. I just pushed him.’

The pair were ejected for the incident, but both tried to keep hyping the crowd as they left the field.

A clip of Evans went viral on social media after the scrap, with the wide receiver being filmed clearly shouting at a coach, “That’s Tom Brady! What should I do after campaigning for quarterback?

Evans said he didn’t think he would be banned over the incident, drawing comparisons to his clash with Lattimore in 2017 when he ran onto the field and poked Lattimore in the back

“No, that was … I wasn’t kicked out in 2017 and that was really a cheap shot,” Evans said. “It wasn’t that. He beat my teammate.

But Monday morning’s suggestion is that the NFL consider suspending Evans and Lattimore, in part because of this story Evans spoke of.

In 2020, the two feuded again – this time with incitement by Lattimore and Evans knocking off his opponent’s helmet.

It’s likely that both players would appeal against a possible suspension.

Evans and the Bucs next play the Packers on Sunday while the Saints travel to the Panthers.
