Liverpool ‘trying again for Real Madrid starlet Fede Valverde in £85m deal’

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have reportedly identified Real Madrid man Fede Valverde as the player transforming their midfield.

Liverpool have steadily increased the average age of their squad in recent seasons and efforts to combat that this summer by acquiring a young midfielder, namely Aurelien Tchouameni, have failed.

However, according to Spanish publication AS, Liverpool have identified the Frenchman’s Uruguayan team-mate Valverde as the man who will bolster his options in midfield.

Indeed, the report states that Liverpool were willing to part with £85million this summer to add Valverde to their ranks, but Real Madrid’s sale of Casemiro to Manchester United has ended any potential deal.

Liverpool acquired Arthur Melo from Juventus on short notice.

Valverde, 24, has emerged as one of Real Madrid’s best players in recent months, bringing some much-needed tactical balance to the side through his role at right-back.

His assist for Vinicius Jr in the Champions League final in May capped an impressive season for the Uruguayan while his impressive form has continued this season.

Valverde has seen his goal contribution rise exponentially as he has already scored four goals in all competitions this season. He only scored once in all of last season.

Carlo Ancelotti, Valverde’s boss at Real Madrid, had begged the midfielder to add more goals to his game and joked he would throw away all his coaching badges should he fail to get the player to score at least 10 goals this season.

“If you can’t get a player like that to score at least 10 goals in a season, you should tear up your coaching badge and retire,” he said.

‘Because he’s got a one-foot rock. Tonight he shot with his left foot. I’ve never seen him shoot with his left hand like that, so it shows he’s confident in his abilities and has a lot of abilities.

“It’s more than just energy. But to say that he’s the best in the world at his position, we might have to wait a little longer.

Real Madrid started their season perfectly, winning all their games in both LaLiga and Champions League. On Sunday night, amid racist chants from Atletico Madrid fans aimed at Vinicius, Real Madrid won 2-1 thanks to goals from Rodrygo and Valverde to return to the top before the international break.
