Avram Glazer has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s claims that Manchester United owners “don’t care about the club”, breaking the family’s silence on a potential sale.
Glazer, found near his home in West Palm Beach, Fla., has marketed the decision to seek “strategic alternatives” with one of the world’s largest sports clubs.
Urged on Ronaldo’s views of the Glazer family and accusations that they ‘don’t care’, the American wished the Portuguese well.
“As we announced yesterday, the board has gone through a process and decided to look at various strategic alternatives – and that is exactly what we are doing,” Glazer told Sky Sports. “We’ll see where that takes us.
“I’ll tell you about Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s a great Manchester United player, I appreciate everything he’s done for the club and wish him the best of luck in the future.”
United released a statement this week outlining their intentions for the club’s future: “Manchester United plc (NYSE:MANU), one of the most successful and storied sports clubs in the world, announces today that the company’s board (the ” Board”) begins a process to explore strategic alternatives for the club.
“The process is designed to support the club’s future growth, with the ultimate aim of positioning the club to capitalize on opportunities both on the pitch and commercially.
As part of this process, the Board will review any strategic alternatives, including new investments in the club, a sale or any other transaction involving the company.
“This will include an assessment of several initiatives to strengthen the club, including the refurbishment of stadiums and infrastructure and the expansion of the club’s commercial activities on a global scale, all linked to increasing the long-term success of the men’s, women’s and football teams Clubs Academy teams and benefits for fans and other stakeholders.”
