Fans celebrate Richarlison after he scored the UNUSUAL ‘Goal of the Tournament’ contender for Brazil

Richarlison was praised by fans around the world after scoring a spectacular volley in Brazil’s World Cup opener against Serbia.

The striker took the ball in the box with his back to goal, flicked it in the air with his first touch, turned and volleyed hard to double Brazil’s lead. It was second of the game after a poacher got the finish earlier in the second half

Fans are already calling the Strike a goal of the tournament contender and “Puskas-worthy.”

Others labeled Richarlison ‘unreal’ and suggested ‘you won’t see a better goal’, as many also commented that the quality of the Serbian team made the goal even more impressive.

BBC pundits joined the fans in praising the striker after the game, although Alan Shearer claimed to have set up Richarlison’s rather wilder opening goal.

He said: “Positioning to score those shoddy little goals gives me as much satisfaction as the incredible second goal he scored. It looks very simple, but it isn’t. It’s a very, very good centre-forward game.’

However, the former England striker praised the volley, describing the shooting technique as “incredible”.

Micah Richards added Richarlison “showed why he’s Brazil’s number 9”.

The 2-0 win for Tite’s side puts them top of Group G after Switzerland’s narrow win over Cameroon.

Next, they face the second-placed Swiss on Monday.
