Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens says the organization has a duty to look after women in its building after the Ime Udoka saga took place amid a wave of “rampant cops.”
Udoka, the Celtics head coach, has been suspended for the entire 2022-23 season for violating team policy.
Udoka is said to have had an affair with an employee of the Celtics organization.
During his press conference, Stevens said that Udoka would face a “very significant financial penalty” in addition to his forced sabbatical.
“We have a lot of talented women in our organization and I thought yesterday was really tough for them,” Stevens said of the rumors and innuendos surrounding Udoka and potentially involved parties.
“Nobody can control Twitter speculation and rampant bullshit, but I think we have a responsibility to make sure we’re there to support them.”
