Cardiff City sack Steve Morison after defeat by Huddersfield

Cardiff have announced the departure of coach Steve Morison after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield.

Morison, who took office in November last year, leaves 18th on the championship standings with the Bluebirds.

A statement from the club read: “Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that first-team manager Steve Morison has been relieved of his duties.

“We would like to thank Steve for his efforts during his time at Cardiff City, stabilizing the first-team last season and helping to develop our squad this summer in line with the club’s philosophy.”

Cardiff confirmed Mark Hudson will act as caretaker manager ahead of the next game against Burnley on October 1, with support from Tom Ramasut.

Morison temporarily replaced Mick McCarthy in October last year and was subsequently handed a permanent contract by Cardiff owner Vincent Tan.

But the Bluebirds slipped to a finishing 18th place last season after winning just one of their last six games of the season.
