Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is reportedly set to move to the MLS next summer by joining Inter Miami.
The 34-year-old has been linked with a move to the United States in the recent transfer with David Beckham’s MLS franchise encirclement.
And now it looks like he will close the curtain on his 17-year tenure at Barca and join Inter Miami next summer, according to the Spanish publication Sports.
Busquets’ current contract in Spain expires in June and the report claims he will leave his boyhood club when it expires.
The report adds that the midfielder has accepted he will leave in 2023 and is keen to further his career in the United States.
Admirers Inter Miami, managed by former Manchester United and Everton midfielder Phil Neville, are considering making Busquets their franchise player.
The Spain international would be a permanent signing for the team and a big name for the league.
He has won both the World Cup and the European Championship with his country and has played a crucial role in Barcelona’s success since 2008.
Busquets has won eight LaLiga, seven Copa del Rey, eight Spanish Super Cup and three Champions League.
The central midfielder could reportedly opt to stay at the Nou Camp for a year after completing his current deal.
He has made five appearances this season and captained the team in the 2-0 group defeat by Bayern Munich in Europe.
