Antonio Conte DROPS out of shape Son Heung-min for Richarlison for Spurs clash against Leicester

Antonio Conte has dropped Tottenham striker Son Heung-min ahead of the Premier League clash in north London with bottom Leicester City.

The Italian manager has instead given the summer signing and £60million Brazilian striker Richarlison a starting spot.

Son has struggled in front of goal this season and has failed to find the net in any of his eight games in all competitions this season and has provided just one assist in the Premier League.

Last season, Son was one of the most dangerous strikers in the Premier League, hitting the net 23 times, enough to share the golden boot with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

So far this season, Son hasn’t thrived the way he’s struggled for the lead in front of goal. The 30-year-old drew another gap in Spurs’ shock Champions League defeat by Sporting Lisbon.

After the Portugal game, Conte admitted Son wasn’t happy with his form in front of goal and that he could be dropped.

He said: “Sonny, he’s certainly not happy because he’s not scoring.

“It’s normal and I like that he’s a little angry about this situation because it means he wants to try to change it. We’re talking about Sonny and he’s a really important player for us.

“Obviously it can happen that in some games he doesn’t get to play from the start, as does Harry (Kane).

“But only to protect him, give him a chance to rest, take care of his energy and give us a win. Certainly I will do rotation on Saturday.’

The Italy manager is now hoping that former Toffee forward Richarlison can fill Son’s gap in the game against the Foxes.

The 25-year-old has scored twice for Spurs since joining in the summer, with both goals coming in the Champions League win over Marseille.

A win for Spurs will see them rise to the top of the Premier League table alongside Manchester City and consequently two points ahead of rivals Arsenal.
