The Chilean Football Federation appealed FIFA’s decision to dismiss their complaint that Ecuador’s Byron Castillo was born in Colombia and not Ecuador.
FIFA will hold an appeal hearing in the case of an Ecuadorian player who Chile claims took part in a 2022 World Cup qualifier despite not being eligible to play.
The hearing will take place on Thursday.
The Chilean Football Federation appealed on June 10 against FIFA’s decision to dismiss its complaint that Ecuador’s Byron Castillo was born in Tumaco, Colombia, in 1995 and not in the Ecuadorian town of General Villamil Playas in 1998, according to its official documents .
Castillo played in eight of Ecuador’s 18 qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup.
Ecuador denied the player was ineligible to play.
