Members of the Junge Union are said to have insulted a trans woman on Sunday evening. The first verse of Deutschlandlied is also said to have been heard.
On Sunday evening in Osnabrück, a group of men insulted a trans woman after a CDU election party. State security is investigating the case, queer.de magazine reports. The district chair of the CDU in Osnabrück explained that at least one of the men was a member of the CDU and that the group was made up of several drunk men from the Junge Union background. The woman in question is a member of the SPD.
Quoting the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”, queer.de reports that the woman found the situation threatening. She was addressed with her dead name and insulted several times in a hostile way to homosexuals. Furthermore, the men are said to have sung the first verse of the Deutschlandlied. The trans woman filed a complaint.
SPD Osnabrück expressed solidarity with his member and condemned the incident in a statement: “Such a verbal attack is not only a terrible event for the person concerned, but here the fundamental values of our coexistence are attacked”. According to the SPD, the CDU and the Junge Union want to work on the incident and draw the consequences.
The SPD also commented on the chanting of the first verse of the Deutschlandlied: “Especially with the results of the AFD voting in the Lower Saxony elections, we as democratic parties must distinguish ourselves clearly and sharply from right-wing radicalism.”
