David Depape, Paul Pelosi suspect: 5 quick facts you need to know

David Depape was identified as the suspect charged with assaulting Paul Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi’s husband, at the couple’s home.

The name was first reported by Demian Bulwa, news director of the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. He tweeted that David Depape is a Berkeley resident. Heavy will add a suspicious photo to this story when it is obtained. What is Depape’s politics and was he on social media? On a blog and website, he was fixated on censorship and made anti-Semitic comments. Online records give Depape’s age as 42.

On a WordPress blog, Depape complained about censorship by the “elites” and the “ruling class”. He also seems to have a website that says ‘da Joden’. Sixteen hours ago, he posted the headline, “Why Colleges Become Cults.” He raved about movies, writing, “The critics are f****** commie gatekeepers. They always like the shit movies, as long as those movies are sh**** because they were…”

In another post, he wrote, “The more Ukrainians die UNnecessarily, the cheaper the land will be for Jews to buy up.”

His name was also given as David DePape, with different capital letters.

“Suspect who, according to authorities, was attacked, Paul Pelosi shouted, ‘Where’s Nancy? Where’s Nancy?’ before the ‘violent attack’” according to CNN host Victor Blackwell.

The suspect was specifically targeting the Pelosi house, the Associated Press reported.

The speaker’s spokesperson confirmed the attack in a statement.

The statement was released by Drew Hammill, spokesman for Speaker of the U.S. House Nancy Pelosi. The statement called it a “violent attack.” Paul Pelosi is 82 years old. According to the Associated Press, Pelosi suffered “blunt trauma to his head and body,” which left him with “bruising, severe swelling, and other injuries.”

KTVU-TV reportedUPDATE: @SpeakerPelosi was in DC with her protective detail when husband Paul Pelosi, 82, was attacked during a 2:30 am break-in at their home in SF’s Pacific Heights. The television station reported that Capitol Police is working with the FBI and the San Francisco Police Department.

Here’s what you need to know:

Joe Eskenazi, van Mission Local, tweeted“My sources also refer to the suspect in this morning’s hammer attack on Paul Pelosi as David DePape, born 1980, of Berkeley. He is said to be a former Castro nudist protester. It seems to be getting bizarre for a while.”

A 2013 article in the San Francisco Chronicle mentions Depape, although his name is misspelled. It describes him as a “hemp jewelry maker.” That article reported that Depape was the best man at Gypsy Taub’s nude wedding.

A 2008 article in the Oakland Tribune, accessible through Newspapers.com, reported that David Depape and Gypsy Taub have three children together. Rather than cook Thanksgiving dinner at their home in Berkeley, “they chose to have a meal together with 350 others at Two Star Market,” according to the article.

“We like to meet our neighbors,” Taub, a pro-nude activist, told the newspaper.

Taub’s Facebook page says she’s from Moscow, Russia, and is “the homeless youth director of the Jerry Garcia Family Healing Clinic.” There is no indication that Taub has any connection to the Paul Pelosi attack; the recording is intended to flesh out Depape’s bio. Taub has told the media she believes 9/11 was an inside job, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.

In a 2013 article on Indy Bay.org, Taub named Depape as a photographer at a nudity protest in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood.

On a WordPress blog, Depape complained about censorship. “Welcome to the hell of Big Brothers censorship,” it reads.

The blog says:

The blog features numerous black images with the word “censorship” stamped into them.

According to Terry Moran of ABC, “The suspect reportedly entered the house through a sliding glass door with a hammer and was apparently looking for the House Speaker himself.” Paul Pelosi’s injuries were described as “significant” by Moran.

San Francisco Police Tweeted“On 10/28/22, at 2:27 a.m., SFPD responded to the 2600 block of Broadway for a home invasion. During the incident, an 82-year-old man was assaulted. The suspect has been arrested. The victim has been sent to a local hospital.SFPD chief Scott will address the media at police headquarters.
