Former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Vicki Gunvalson left the show after season 14. The Bravo alum appeared on an August 2022 episode of her former co-star, Kelly Dodd’s podcast, “The Rick and Kelly” show. Gunvalson shared why she thought she had not been asked to return to RHOC.
“I think there are many reasons. I’m very conservative like you and I don’t think that bodes well with a very liberal network. I also think I’ve gotten very expensive and I think I’ve gotten older and now I’m 60. I can not help it. I cannot change my date of birth. And it was a good ride, 14, 15 years. It was 14 years full time and a year as a friend, it hurts my feelings,” said the mother of two.
The 60-year-old then suggested that she thinks Bravo viewers would like her presence on new seasons of RHOC.
“My life is so crazy right now, they’re missing so many good things in that. Don’t just go to dinner parties and argue about what charity you want, like it’s real,” Gunvalson said.
She went on to say that she did not believe that RHOC stars Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter bring much substance to the Bravo series.
“What’s there? There’s no substance, there’s nothing inspiring, there’s nothing you want to match. I mean, people are coming up, I’m sure they’re doing it to you too, ‘I learned from you, I learned a life insurance policy on my husband because of you or I did this because of you,” said Gunvalson.
While filming the episode “Rick and Kelly Show,” Gunvalson shared that she had an emotional reaction when Tamra told Judge she would be returning to RHOC for the upcoming seventeenth season.
“She called me to say ‘I just wanted to let you know first, I’ll be back on RHOC’ and I’m like ‘okay well my phone didn’t ring yet so I guess I’m not coming back’, come back as a friend or full time?’ And she goes, ‘full time.’ And the tears started, I immediately started to cry. She said, ‘I’ll help you in a minute’ and I said ‘no, that’s fine, unless they want me always and always,’” Gunvalson said.
In an August 2022 interview with E! News Daily Pop, Gunvalson spoke about Judge’s return to RHOC. She explained that she has complicated feelings about the situation. However, she stated that she is “excited” for her former co-star.
“I’d be a bad friend if I wasn’t, and she thinks I didn’t support her enough by going back, I’m not. Yes, I have FOMO, I’m just like any other woman who would feel that way,” Gunvalson said.
She also revealed why she believed Judge was being asked to rejoin the RHOC cast.
“I thought, ‘What does she have that I don’t?’ We’re both individual people she’ll show her t*** I don’t but other than that I mean I think we’re a good Lucy and Ethel together But there’s clearly something Bravo doesn’t like about me and so I had to accept it,” Gunvalson said.
