Singer August Alsina claims Canadian rapper Tory Lanez beat him after a show over the weekend, which Lanez flatly denied.
Alsina opened up about the supposed fight in an Instagram post on Sunday, which included photos of her broken lip and scraped knee.
“Me after a sneak attack with toupee was manipulated by buku security on a deep level as the jealous pixie backs into the building,” he wrote in part, allegedly referring to Lanez.
Earlier today, Alsina posted a different photo of himself in an elevator with blood pouring from his mouth. The caption claimed he was approached by Lanez and his security detail as Alsina was leaving the building after a show on Saturday night.
“All the time I’m a deep. Not safe,” Alsina wrote.
The singer further claimed that Lanez asked with “a shattered ego why I didn’t dap him,” which he says caught him off guard. Alsina said that although the two hadn’t met until then, he assumed that Lanez didn’t like him because the rapper had spoken about him publicly before.
Alsina then insisted that he did not utter any “disrespectful words”, but was nevertheless suddenly struck.
“There was never a ‘fight’! Just an assault,” her Instagram caption continued. “The dude has no real friends, and is on a crash mission…His ppl filmed the whole thing, PUT. THE. SEQUENCE. OUT!! I’d love to see him :).”
The singer went on to promote his skincare brand Encina Wellness, saying he would use it to “clean that blood [his] faces.”
For his part, Lanez claimed that nothing like this had ever happened.
“I don’t even know what this kid is talking about,” the rapper told YouTuber DJ Akademiks in a video posted on Sunday. “Like, I don’t know if he’s doing a promo – I don’t know what this nigga is about.”
Akademiks seemed to believe Lanez, adding, “When I read it, I was like, ‘Yo, Tory isn’t even violent like that. “”
This isn’t the first time Lanez has been accused of violence. He was indicted in 2020 over allegations he shot rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot, pleading not guilty. This trial was supposed to start this month, but its start date has just been pushed back to later this year, according to several media.
Alsina has also been embroiled in controversy before.
The 30-year-old musician once had a romantic “entanglement” with Jada Pinkett Smith, who is in an open marriage to Oscar-winning actor Will Smith. Alsina wrote a song about the backlash he said he suffered after the public learned of the couple’s unconventional relationship. He also called for “peace” after Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock for a joke at this year’s Oscars.
