Titanic: Leonardo DiCaprio almost didn’t get the role!

During an interview with GQ, James Cameron revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio almost didn’t play the role of Jack in the iconic Titanic movie. In fact, 25 years after the phenomenal success of his feature film, co-sponsored by Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, the filmmaker has confided that the young actor was close to missing out on the role because he didn’t want to audition.

After initially charming the film’s crew, Leo said, “Oh, I’m not auditioning,” when the director asked him to read lines for him alongside Kate Winslet.

An attitude James didn’t appreciate as he would have turned to him to say, “Well, thanks for coming”.

However, once he realized that Leo was good for the role and he didn’t want to miss out on a good audition, James Cameron gave him a choice: “You’ll read or you won’t have the part”.

Leonardo DiCaprio therefore agreed to read a few lines with the actress, and the filmmaker recalled that “dark clouds came up, a ray of sunshine came down, and Jack enlightened.”

We know the rest!
