Season 23 of “The Voice” will air in Spring 2023 and the new season will feature two brand new faces on the coaching panel.
Three coaches from season 22 of the show will not be returning next season: John Legend, Camila Cabello and Gwen Stefani will all step down from the coaching panel for at least one season. Blake Shelton is the only season 22 coach to return.
NBC announced in a statement that season 23 would air in the spring of 2023.
Blake Shelton returns for his 23rd season of “The Voice,” which will also be his last. He is joined by two newcomers and a returning coach.
Kelly Clarkson is also making her return after a one-season absence. Clarkson originally left because she wanted to take the summer off, and she almost let it slip before that she would return.
“I’m so excited to be back with my Voice family!” Clarkson said in the release. “Let’s do this, team Kelly!”
The first new coach for the season is Chance the Rapper. He’s never been on “The Voice” but it looks like he’ll be joining the panel next season. According to the press release, Chance is “acclaimed by both his peers and critics for his unique rise to success” and is “not signed to any major label”.
“I’m excited to join ‘The Voice’ next season as a coach,” he said in the release. “I love helping other artists get to the next level and get the most out of this life-changing experience. Get ready for #teamchance.”
Niall Horan fills the last hole on the panel and rounds everything up. Horan is in a great place in his career to join “The Voice” having gone out on his own after spending some time in One Direction. He will probably fill the slot normally filled by Gwen Stefani with a mix of pop and indie sounds.
Horan will also be able to bond with Clarkson about their shared past singing competitions. He became part of One Direction after auditioning for X Factor.
“I’m excited to be joining this season of ‘The Voice’ as a coach,” said Horan, “Looking forward to meeting and mentoring the new wave of talent as we battle it out with the other teams!”
Tickets for live recordings for “The Voice” Blind Auditions were released in late September 2022, dated mid-October. Filming for “The Voice” season 22 Blind Auditions was completed months ago, and generally shooting for a spring season of the series begins in October or November for a February premiere date.
That means it’s likely that “The Voice” will go back to two seasons a year.
Currently, the recording schedule includes dates October 13, 14, 15, and 16 and the description reads “The Voice – Season 23 Blind Auditions.”
All filming will take place at Universal Studios in Hollywood, and the dates likely mean the Battle and Knockout Rounds will be filmed in November and December.
“The Voice” airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm ET / 5pm PT on NBC.
