The Compagnie Gilles Jobin presents two immersive virtual reality shows from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 September in the former Plaza cinema in Geneva. The audience can discover dancers and their evolving avatars on the screens and walls of the plaza.
“Virtual Crossings Geneva” was created in collaboration with digital art artists based in Geneva. Thanks to a motion capture device, the avatars and the dancers interact live. This show has already been shown in Buenos Aires and Melbourne.
The other creation, “Cosmology”, takes the audience into new virtual territories. This show, also broadcast live on Léman Bleu on Friday 23 September, features two male and one female dancer whose movements are recorded in the company’s studio and projected in real time onto the Plaza.
These free performances are part of a series of three events being offered at the old cinema this fall before major renovations begin. From 2025, the plaza, recognized as an exceptional building heritage object, will give way to a new cultural center dedicated to cinema and architecture.
