The Project: Important Notice Carrie Bickmore skips to Channel Nine

Channel Nine has refused to deny rumors that Carrie Bickmore will be joining the network after leaving The Project.

The future of Bickmore’s television career is a hot topic, with speculation swirling that the Channel 10 golden girl is planning to join Nine – and maybe even replace Tracy Grimshaw as presenter of A Current Affair.

After having an opportunity to clear up the rumors on Wednesday, a Nine spokesman declined to comment.

Bickmore also remained excited about her next career move, simply telling viewers Tuesday night “it’s time for a new challenge.”

However, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice that she avoided answering the question about switching networks.

After Bickmore’s co-host Kate Langbroek admitted leaving The Project was the “hardest decision of my professional life,” she asked, “Are you the host of A Current Affair?”

Though said in jest, the question was undoubtedly on the minds of many viewers, as Bickmore’s exit from The Project comes as Grimshaw prepares to sign off from ACA after a historic 17-year streak.

Significantly, Bickmore chose not to deny the rumors and instead just laughed at Langbroek’s question.

The fact that Langbroek was the one to bring up the subject is also interesting, as she recently signed with Nine to host dating show My Mum, Your Dad.

“They always make these unusual, bold decisions,” Langbroek said, to which Bickmore replied, “I know. I will be totally honest. I’m not 100% sure of my decision…’

Langbroek then interrupted: “Wait a minute? Do you host A Current Affair?’

Bickmore rolled his head back in laughter, but didn’t deny that she was going to jump after nine, and quickly changed the subject.

That moment didn’t go unnoticed on Twitter, with viewers noting that her non-denial could be a sign that she’s about to pop up on a rival network.

“Has anyone noticed that Carrie hasn’t denied the A Current Affair rumor?” one tweeted.

“Carrie Bickmore. ACCA 2023? Who is with me?’ another wrote, while a third added, “Has Nine poached Carrie Bickmore to replace Tracy Grimshaw at ACA next year?”

One fan tweeted: “Could Carrie Bickmore leave The Project to replace Tracy Grimshaw at ACA in 2023? Timing is everything.’

Bickmore announced Tuesday that she is leaving The Project to spend more time with her family.

The TV presenter fought back tears as she told viewers it was the hardest decision she’s made in her professional life.

The mother-of-three has been at The Project’s desk since the show launched in 2009 and has since become a familiar face on Australian screens.

“I have some news I wanted to share… shit, I’m already crying,” she began.

“I made the difficult decision to host the show at the end of the year.

“It was the hardest decision of my professional life making this call, but it’s time for a new challenge and for my next chapter.”

Bickmore said she will miss her “colleagues on the desk” and the “wonderful viewers” who have supported the show for over a decade.

“It’s no secret that this show has become my second home, and I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone involved on and off the screen,” she said.
