Tamra Judge Reveals Why She ‘Had a Meltdown’ After Being Asked to Return to RHOC

Tamra Judge, the star of Real Housewives of Orange County, returns to the Bravo series after a two-year hiatus for its seventeenth season. On an October 2022 episode of her podcast “Two Ts In A Pod,” co-hosted by former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, the reality TV personality admitted she was concerned about her return. She explained that she had gotten used to not being a Bravo star.

“I was a little nervous about going back because the first year I was off it was honestly like I was in a deep depression and then COVID hit and I was like, ‘What the hell did I do? Why was I fired?’ I never understood and after that, you know, life goes on and I adjusted to my new life and it was nice not to be too glamorous and stuff and eat a little bit more than usual, you know, and all those things and spending a lot of time at home,” said Judge.

The mother of four also noted that she didn’t expect Bravo to approach her for season 17. She then shared that she was having an emotional reaction because she wasn’t sure she could be a RHOC star again.

“When you least expect it, they reach out to me and say, ‘Okay, do you want to come back’ and I’m like – in the beginning I was like ‘yeah, I want to come back’ and then I had a breakdown, I’m like ‘I don’t know if I can do this,’ your life goes by so fast, you know, 13 years went by so fast,” stated the RHOC personality.

In a July 2022 episode of “Two Ts In A Pod,” The judge noted that she announced her RHOC return during a surprise appearance on the July 20, 2022 episode of “Watch live what’s happening with Andy Cohen.” She shared that Cohen wanted her to make an announcement about her comeback while filming the July 19 episode, along with her former RHOC co-star Vicki Gunvalson. As fans know, Gunvalson also left the Bravo series after season 14 and has not yet been asked to return as a RHOC cast member.

“Andy called me and said, ‘Hey, I really want to announce that you’ll be back when you’re in New York with Vicki doing Watch What Happens Live.’ That’s a bit inconvenient, though, because Vicki wasn’t asked back. And I said, ‘Can I please tell her?’ He said, ‘Yes, you can tell her.’ Because I wanted it to come from me, I know it hurts, if the roles were reversed it would sting, I’d be happy for her, but it would sting,” Judge said.

During an August 2022 interview with E! Online, Gunvalson claimed that she is happy that Judge has rejoined the RHOC cast. However, she admitted that she was upset that she wasn’t asked to return to the Bravo series as well.

“Of course I’m excited for her, I’d be a bad friend if I wasn’t and she thinks I didn’t support her enough by going back. That was not the case, yes, I have FOMO. I’m just like any other woman who would feel that way. I am now too – it’s been three or four weeks later she called me and told me she’s moving on again, the main thing I did was cry. I didn’t get the call,” the 60-year-old said.
