Son of Real Housewives Star gets 2 years in prison

Former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Lauri Peterson’s son Josh Waring appeared in court on Monday, September 19, 2022, pleaded guilty to drug possession and was sentenced to two years in prison.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Waring, 33, pleaded guilty to “a felony of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, one count of possession of a stun gun with a previous conviction, three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell substance, and a count of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, all crimes.” Peterson’s son was given credit for the 106 days already in custody.

Carrie Braun, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, informed that Waring was in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine, the outlet wrote.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Superior Court Judge Scott Steiner has decided “not to issue an unofficial opinion. Prosecutors have sought to inform defendants that prosecutors may file a higher murder charge if a defendant sells fentanyl to a victim who dies.” .”

The publication wrote that Orange County sheriffs reported finding Waring on Jan. 6, 2022, with a woman in a car in the parking lot behind a business in San Juan Capistrano. Emergency services searched him because he was on parole and found some bags of fentanyl on him, Braun explained.

He pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in January and was sentenced to 90 days in prison.

Waring has been in and out of trouble with the law and was convicted of a Cosa Mesa shooting after reaching a plea deal. The son of the former RHOC star was initially charged with three counts of attempted murder, along with an increase in sentence for alleged attempted first-degree murder, for the June 20, 2016 shooting of Daniel Lopez, then 35, outside a home in Costa Mesa. Two others were not injured in the drive-by attack, according to CBS.

If convicted, Waring could have been sentenced to 65 years to life in prison, but instead took a plea deal and was sentenced to nearly four years in prison pending trial. He pleaded guilty to several felonies in March 2020, including several counts of assault with a firearm and two counts of assault with possible grievous bodily harm, CBS reported.

Waring’s mother Lauri Peterson has been outspoken in the past about her son’s struggles with drug addiction, including heroin addiction. She told Bravo in 2015 that she adopted his daughter Kennady, who was born in 2012, because of Waring and his wife’s struggles.

“I have a son and he’s just had a lot of challenges,” she said at the time. “And he and his wife had a baby almost three years ago. He’s really having a hard time and, well, they’re both having a really hard time. And thus [my husband] George and I chose to help and we adopted Kennady, so we’re raising her.”
