Rita Ora has opened up about her marriage to Taiki Waititi for the first time after secretly tying the knot earlier this summer.
The singer, 31, insists she is head over heels in love with the filmmaker, 47, and is planning another big wedding in London for her friends and family.
Pop star Rita says she took inspiration from her parents – her mother Vera and father Besnik – in her search for love after learning from their strong relationship of more than 30 years.
She told The Sun of her marriage: “I’m in love. i am very much in love I’m in love, I’m in love, amen!
“But I also love love. I’ve always believed in it so much and I’ve always felt like I always wanted the fairy tale and that’s what I grew up loving.
Speaking of her mum and dad, she added: “My parents have been together for over 30 years so for me it’s always been about love and finding a partner and all that, so I’m really glad I did that .
“I made that choice. It made me happy and I love Taika. He’s so funny and beautiful.’
It emerged that Rita had married Taika Waititi in an intimate ceremony in London in August.
It was then that the star reportedly changed her last name, meaning she will now be known as Mrs Waititi-Ora.
The Hot Right Now hitmaker and Thor: Love And Thunder director were both pictured with gold bands on their ring fingers in the days leading up to their wedding – sparking speculation they had already tied the knot.
Rita and Taika began dating in March 2021 before going public with their romance in August.
The couple got engaged two before their wedding in August, with sources claiming they are planning a huge party to celebrate their secret nuptials with friends and family.
A source told The Sun at the time: “It was a really intimate ceremony and very special for everyone there. Your loved ones can see how much they are in love.
“Despite being in the spotlight, Rita is determined to keep the relationship as private as possible and didn’t want to make a big fuss about the wedding.
“Rita is already back in the studio working on her third album, her last session was with Rollo, the author of Ava Max and Noah Cyrus.”
In June, it was reported that the couple were set to get married after popping the question almost simultaneously.
The British singer and filmmaker were reportedly planning an upcoming low-key ceremony abroad before celebrating with their fellow A-listers at a big London party later this year.
It’s understood that Rita, who is working on multiple films and The Voice Australia, and Taika, who is planning a series of films, hope to tie the knot once their work commitments are completed.
A friend told The Sun: “This isn’t about them doing a big flashy thing and crowing about it beforehand. It’s all about them being in love and deciding it’s the right time to formalize their relationship. You couldn’t be happier.
‘You don’t have a whole ‘Will you marry me?’ thing and an Instagram post.
“There is no ring or large gatherings. They grew closer and finally said to each other almost simultaneously, “I want to marry you.”
In August, the couple – who started dating after meeting in Australia in March 2021 – were said to have moved so quickly in their relationship that they started discussing marriage, a source told New Idea.
“Taika calls Rita ‘wife’ all the time and chats about how he will be her first and last husband,” the insider said.
“Everyone around her downplays it as flirtatious banter, but [Rita is] I definitely hope he’s real,” they continued, adding that she’s “absolutely obsessed” with him.
