Receiving the ‘worst’ dancer’s advice for the night 1

The new season of “Dancing With the Stars” premiered on Disney+ on Monday, September 19, 2022, and fans are already formulating their thoughts on the celebs as they try ballroom dancing for the first time.

Night one brought a mixed bag, with some incredibly performed dances, some shockingly harsh criticism, and an elimination. One of the most talked about dances of the evening was Vinny Guadagnino salsa with Koko Iwasaki.

The ‘Jersey Shore’ star and his professional partner danced to Bad Bunny’s ‘Titi Me Pregunto’ and while they seemed to be having a lot of fun on the dance floor, the judges weren’t huge fans of the performance. Carrie Ann Inaba scored the dance a four as did Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli. Derek Hough interrupted Guadagnino and gave him a five.

While the scores didn’t leave Guadagnino and Iwasaki in last place, several viewers felt that Guadagnino didn’t do a great job and some called it the “worst” dance of the night. However, he had one person in particular who – loudly – cheered him on on social media, and that was his “Jersey Shore” co-star, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who starred in season 17.

Here’s what you need to know:

After finding out that he had been cast on the show, Guadagnino got some good advice from Polizzi.

“I thought, ‘Vinny, this is going to be the best time of your life.’ I’m like, ‘I would go back on that show in a heartbeat. It was stressful, but it was great.’ I was like, “Enjoy it, have the best time, but know it’s stressful and fun,” Polizzi told People magazine.

She added that she thought Guadagnino would do great because he has rhythm.

“I have a feeling Vinny will be absolutely amazing just because I feel like he’s the best dancer of all of us because it’s natural to him,” she said.

She went on to say that people should vote for Guadagnino. “I was like, ‘Vinny, you better be top five.’ We have to vote for him, people were allowed to vote for Vinny,” she told the outlet.

Guadagnino was eventually safe for the night and will battle Iwasaki in week two.

While it seems clear that nerves played a part in most of the first night’s performances, Guadagnino spoke out about the harsh criticism he received.

“It wasn’t my best pass. I honestly didn’t think I was doing that bad, but we’re going to do our thing. I kind of like being the underdog now – make a little fire in me,” he said Monday night after his dance to reporters, according to Us Weekly.

“I am certainly not a technical dancer. So if they’re going to look at all the engineering, technical stuff, like, I definitely have room for improvement, but the fans came out to vote and that’s the main thing. I really felt the love this week, more than so many times in my career when I did this,” he told Us Weekly directly.

And Guadagnino still has Polizzi’s support.

“I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE JUDGES!!! Vinny did a fantastic job, everyone voted!” Polizzi tweeted on Monday evening.
