‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’: Why fans aren’t convinced Marvin is dead

Book of Power III: Raise Kanan follows the teenage years of Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis). Kanan is raised by his drug queen mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller), who runs a drug business with her brothers, Marvin (London Brown) and Lou Lou (Malcolm Mays).

For much of Season 1, Marvin, Raq’s eldest brother, seemed like a joke. In the second season, however, fans saw a lot more depth in the character. However, a fatal mistake may have just cost him his life.

Marvin made a lot of mistakes in his life. They’ve cost him his drug organization, his freedom, and even his relationship with his daughter, Jukebox (Hailey Kilgore). However, his recent mistake of hiring Marco Boselli (David Castro), the son of crime boss Sal Boselli (Michael Rispoli), for a hit job may have been a fatal one.

Marcon died during the attack and now the mob are after Marvin, Raq and the entire Thomas family.

After Raq fired Sal, the crime boss called in some of his men to do the work himself. They opened fire on Marvin and his unsuspecting therapist, Renée Timmons (Krystal Joy Brown). Since Renée is the truly innocent party here, she likely died for Marvin’s sins, or at least was seriously injured.

For his part, although his actions led to this moment, we doubt that Marvin died. After all, he’s a key player in Raise Kanan. Besides, he was in the process of turning over a new leaf and knew how to do it perfomance As long as the universe works, this will likely be a way for him to transform himself into a man even more evil than he was before.

After all, Renée meant a lot to him. “She’s very critical of helping Marvin see himself and helping Marvin see the issues that have been buried,” Brown told Landon Buford. “This Marvin has been repressed over the years and basically his entire life. She’s one of a few people who can get through to Marvin, she can get through, and even then there’s resistance.”

While we’re not convinced that Marvin is dead, his mishap in hiring Marco has certainly given Unique (Joey Bada$$), Raq’s rival, a head start. As Raq described him in episode 208 “A House Is Not a Home”, Unique is a mafia whisperer. Additionally, in the episode 209 “Anti-Trust” preview, it looks like Sal is expecting him to give him some important insight into Raq’s organization.

Now that Raq is focused on keeping the mob at bay and she and everyone around her is paying the consequences for their actions, it would be the perfect time for Unique to strike.

After all, Raq brought him down when he was in his prime; If that’s possible, he could certainly retaliate.
