He once sold his portrait of Bob Dylan for a whopping $1.2 million.
And Pierce Brosnan announced that he will be exhibiting his artwork in Santa Monica on May 13, 2023.
The 69-year-old James Bond star made the announcement while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday.
He looked as handsome as ever in his gunmetal suit over a white shirt and complete with a navy pocket square.
He explained, “I’ve put this off so many times because of work, and so I finally said, ‘No matter what movie I do, I’m going to do the show.’
Host Jimmy asked the actor if he was nervous, to which he replied, “Well, not now, but I will be then.”
Pierce said he has been painting since 1987 and confessed that he was self-taught.
Speaking about the inspiration for his painting Ear Plugs, he explained: “It’s really beautiful. I’m a huge Lichtenstein fan, Roy Lichtenstein, a great artist. I’m a big fan of his work. And I painted it when I was doing Goldeneye at Leavesden Studios.
“They give you these little packages [of earplugs] Every time there are explosions. And so I thought I’d just paint it. So I painted that for six months.”
For a second track called “Picasso,” Pierce said, “[Picasso] affects me. I really appreciate his work, he is a great inspiration. Everything begins and begins and ends with Pablo.”
Speaking about what got him into art, he revealed: “Well, I left school at 16, 17 with nothing but a cardboard folder of drawings and paintings. I got a job in a small studio in Putney, south London, and I thought, “I’m going to be an artist.”
“And then I discovered acting, or acting discovered me. And thank God for that!’
Elsewhere in the chat, Pierce spoke about his latest role in DC superhero Black Adam as Doctor Fate.
He admitted, “Playing a superhero like Doctor Fate was the last thing on my mind.”
He then revealed he auditioned for Tim Burton’s Batman, a role that eventually went to Michael Keaton.
He confessed, “I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton, I said, ‘You know, I can’t understand a man who wears his underpants outside of his pants.'”
Pierce graciously added, “The best man got the job, and you know, Doctor Fate and I should meet on the same page, I think.”
Jimmy asked Pierce about his iconic costume for the DC movie, and Pierce replied, “Everybody wants to know what it was like putting the costume on. How was it putting the helmet on? You can’t see anything! It’s darkness.”
Of his co-star Dwayne Johnson, who plays the title character, Pierce gushed, “He’s a great guy. He’s kind of monolithic and beautiful and he owns that role.
Pierce first showed off his artwork on Instagram with his fans last year and wrote, “I sometimes consider showing the work I’ve been slowly practicing since one dark night in 1987 when I first started painting.
“However, as my dear wife Keely says, you will only paint so many in your lifetime. So, at the end of the year I will have my first art show in LA… if not now, when? Time to let her go.”
Pierce spoke about his passion for art in an interview last year and shared his plans for an exhibition in Santa Monica, California.
He revealed his wife Keely, 56, was airing a documentary at the Cannes Film Festival, and when organizers found out Pierce was a painter they asked him to auction an artwork for amFAR – a charity that fights the AIDS research supported.
In an interview with Parade magazine, Pierce said, “I had done a painting of Bob Dylan, who is one of my great heroes.
