Open House Saturday at the Penthaz Archive Center (VD)

The Cinémathèque suisse opens the doors of its research and archive center in Penthaz (VD) to the public on Saturday. Visitors can look behind the scenes of the institution and meet the people who work there.

The new buildings on the Penthaz site were inaugurated in 2019. This year, two open days attracted nearly 3,000 people.

On Saturday, visitors can follow a route in different stages. The event is free. A bar with snacks will be available on site and a shuttle bus will connect Cossonay-Penthalaz train station, a statement said.

According to the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), the Cinémathèque suisse is one of the ten most important film libraries in the world. It is distinguished by the diversity and quality of its collections. Founded in Lausanne in 1948, it houses 85,000 feature films and documentaries, as well as thousands of hours of filmed documents of all kinds. Not to mention millions of posters, photographs, scripts, books, old cameras, sets or cinematographic objects.
