Margot Robbie has revealed she needed some Dutch guts before filming salacious bedroom scenes with Leonardo DiCaprio in Wolf Of Wall Street.
The Australian actress, 32, shared that she “had a few shots of tequila” to calm her nerves before the scenes.
She was just 22 years old when she starred opposite the Oscar winner in the biographical crime comedy, which contained a lot of adult scenes.
Speaking at a Bafta: A Life In Pictures event in Piccadilly, London on Tuesday, Margot admitted that while she looked confident on screen, she wasn’t in real life.
“I won’t lie; I had a few shots of tequila before that scene because I was nervous — very, very nervous,” the star explained.
One scene shows Margot trying to seduce her husband Leonardo, who is more than 15 years her senior, in her little daughter’s nursery.
The 2013 Martin Scorsese flick is based on the story of real-life New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), with Margot playing his wife, Naomi Lapaglia.
Despite her breakthrough roles on shows like Australia’s Neighbours, the box office hit catapulted Margot to stardom after its release.
But it was a difficult gig for the newly famous actress, as she admitted back in 2016 that the scenes were “awkward” to film and a first for her.
“I’ve done scenes that lead to sex or that just ended sex. But I didn’t do a consistent sex scene like in Wolf Of Wall Street. That was my first. Countless people are watching you,” the actress told Vanity Fair at the time.
Next: “It’s so awkward. It’s just that, that’s what you have to do – keep going. The sooner you do it, the sooner you can stop it.’
And while it may have been tough, the star has since starred in a number of projects, taking on the role of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad and Birds Of Prey.
She also plays the doll of the same name in the upcoming film Barbie alongside actor Ryan Gosling, who will portray her love interest Ken.
