Lucy Mecklenburgh reveals her son Roman, 2, is in hospital battling a virus

Lucy Mecklenburgh has kept fans updated on the health of her son Roman, revealing he is battling a virus – almost a year to the day he was spotted “blue in his cot”.

The reality star previously opened up about how her little boy spent a week in intensive care and on a ventilator last September, describing it as “every parent’s worst nightmare.”

The 31-year-old TV favorite, who shares her son with former Corrie actor Ryan Thomas, announced on Sunday that Roman is back in hospital but reassured fans the two-year-old is on the mend and only ” need some help” to fight back against illness.

The mother-of-two once again took Roman for urgent medical treatment after contracting an infection in kindergarten.

On her Instagram Story, the former TOWIE star shared a snap of the toddler in an infirmary with the cubicle curtains drawn.

Captioning the snap, she mused, “Should be on a beach. Why did I send Roman to preschool this week?’

She went on to reassure fans that Roman is on the mend, explaining, “He’s fine, he just needs some help fighting virus sometimes. Nebulizers, oxygen, steroids, antibiotics. Bless him, I wish I had kept him out of preschool and brought him to the sunshine sooner.’

Last year, Roman spent nearly a week in intensive care and was diagnosed with “virally induced wheezing.”

Lucy wrote at the time: “As some of you may have noticed, we haven’t been on social media lately. A little over a week ago I found Roman Blue in his crib – probably every parent’s worst nightmare.

“Without going into much detail, Roman ended up being transferred to intensive care at St Mary’s in London and put on a ventilator. Luckily we’re all home now and Roman is his naughty self again.

Lucy said the experience led her to get involved with charities for sick children and the hospital where Roman was taken.

Lucy is also mum to daughter Lilah, three months old, who suffered a health scare of her own last month when she was rushed to hospital and put on oxygen after becoming “really bad” with bronchiolitis.

Lilah contracted bronchiolitis from Roman, who picked up the illness in preschool, and suffered from “coughing and choking” before being rushed to the hospital.

The health update comes after the fitness guru candidly revealed the realities of her post-pregnancy body in a Q&A with her Instagram followers earlier this month, saying she struggles to find time to exercise like most people Find.

The TV star revealed she’s up two dress sizes and her busy life rarely leaves time for a workout – although she’s made her peace with it.

During the chat, one follower asked, “Are you back to your pre-pregnancy weight? Do you work out? Diet? I don’t like myself anymore

Lucy agreed in writing, “I understand so many changes in our bodies so fast it sometimes feels like I’m unfamiliar with my body.”

“I have wider hips, a bigger stomach and breasts, and two dress sizes bigger than before Lilah.”

She continued, “I’m about a stone heavier than before, but try not to weigh myself too much. I rarely have time to exercise, but I love postpartum Pilates. I try to run a few times a week and chase after a toddler all day haha.

“In terms of diet, I’ve started trying to eat as much as I can like I used to, mainly to have energy and feel good.”

She concluded: “Bath cooking helps and quick easy meals that everyone in the house will eat. I don’t eat restrictively, but have a balanced and varied diet.”
