Khloe Kardashian has announced that she had a tumor removed from her face after a skin cancer scare.
The 38-year-old shared details of the health crisis on Tuesday, revealing she was urged by doctors to undergo “immediate surgery” after she finally had a persistent bump on her cheek, which was being examined.
Luckily, Khloe, who is predisposed to melanoma, was happy to report that her surgeon was able to “get it all” and her margins now appear “clear.”
The reality star felt compelled to finally share her story after speculating about the “ever-evolving bandage” on her cheek.
Khloe initially brushed the blemish as a mere pimple until she noticed it was going nowhere after it stayed on her cheek for seven months.
“I’ve seen numerous stories about the ever evolving bandage on my face and some of you have wondered why I’ve been wearing one for the past few weeks.
“After noticing a small bump on my face and assuming it was something as small as a pimple, I decided to have her biopsied 7 months after noticing she wasn’t moving.
“Dermatologist Dr. Tess Mauricio (@drtessmauricio) examined it, and a second biopsy was taken by Dr. Daniel Behroozan (@drdanbehroozan) because what they both saw was incredibly rare for someone my age.
“A few days later I was told I needed immediate surgery to remove a tumor on my face. I called no one but Dr. Garth Fischer, a dear family friend and one of the best surgeons in Beverly Hills who I knew would take incredible care of my face.
“I am grateful to share that Dr. Fischer @garthfishermd could get everything – all my edges seem to be clear and now we are in the healing process. So here we are… You will continue to see my bandages and if you allow me you will likely see a scar (and an indentation in my cheek from the tumor being removed) but until then I hope for enjoying how fabulous I make these face bandages look (heart emojis).
She followed with a video of her with the bandage visible as the song “Too Sexy” played.
“I hope you enjoy how fabulous I make these face bandages look,” she wrote.
PS I am ONLY sharing this story with you so I can remind everyone to get checked up regularly.
“I had a melanoma on my back when I was 19 and I also had surgery to remove that, so I have a history of melanoma. We should also keep checking those that aren’t. I’m someone who wears sunscreen every day, religiously so no one is exempt from these things. Please take this seriously and carry out regular self-examinations as well as your annual check-ups.
‘Thanks to my amazing doctors!! Garth, thank you so much!! I know how badly you didn’t want to cut my face, but you did it to protect me. I trust you with everything and I’m so grateful that we realized that early on. I was lucky and all I have is a scar to tell a story. Most people aren’t as lucky as I am and I am forever thankful and thankful.’
She concluded her message with the quote: “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle we know nothing about. Try not to judge and be kind because you have no idea what you are going through.’
Khloe revealed her fear of skin cancer on her app/website back in 2016.
“A birthmark on my back was skin cancer. I had eight centimeters of skin removed. It was definitely painful because there was a lot of skin, but most of the time the distances weren’t that bad,” she said.
She continued to talk about finding a blemish growing under her breast and researched online and eventually went to see a doctor about the growing and changing shape.
Khloe continued, “They took the whole thing out and biopsied it. Luckily it was benign. I’ve gone through this process a few times and am so thankful that most of the moles weren’t cancerous.
“Now that I’ve been through this a few times, I’m extra conscious of my skin, my body and my birthmarks.”
