Love Island’s Katie Salmon has revealed that she is still together with her fiancé Harry despite the recent split rumours.
In a new interview, the reality star, 26, said she and Harry are just taking some time to focus on their mental health and said they’ve been “through a lot.”
Katie revealed her grief, saying her six-month-old daughter Thaiga was recently diagnosed with a hemangioma tumor and is battling postnatal depression.
“Our relationship isn’t perfect but please be gentle because we’ve been through a lot,” Katie told The Sun on Friday.
Discussing her daughter’s tumor, Katie said it has grown to the size of a “fist” but she is being treated medically and it will most likely be gone by her first birthday.
“He has grown exceptionally large since she was three weeks old, to the size of a fist on the side of her face. It affected her vision because she couldn’t really see in one eye,” Katie said.
She added, “The truth is, I’ve dealt with the severe baby blues and all I can say is that being a mother has been one of the most difficult challenges I’ve ever faced in my life.”
Katie said her mental health had taken so badly in recent months that she was “terrified” to leave the house.
She then praised her fiance Harry, saying they would “get through it” as a family, with the couple determined to put their daughter first.
Reports surfaced earlier this week that Katie had split from fiancé Harry just six months after the birth of their first child.
The Love Island star, who rose to fame on the show’s second season in 2016 and made history as one half of the show’s first same-sex couple with the late Sophie Gradon, shocked her Instagram followers by deleting all pictures of Harry.
The new mom then took to her social media to explain that she had “settled with a lot less” than she deserved.
Katie, who got engaged to Harry last December, deleted snaps from the couple’s gender reveal party ahead of the birth of their daughter Thaiga, as well as a lavish tribute to her former boyfriend on his birthday.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, she cryptically wrote, “Everything has changed for me since having my little girl. It was one of the hardest and most beautiful journeys.
“I didn’t know I had it in me to go through everything I have this year. Women are superheroes idgaf [I don’t give a f***] The reward is her precious smile and health.
She continued in the lengthy post, “I’ve settled for a lot less than I deserve from so many people because I’ve never really respected who I am or what my worth is.
“My loyalty, love and energy are second to none. The change was intense and yet so eye-opening. I had to mourn someone who was once and allow the new me to walk in.
“If you can’t respect my growth, then you don’t deserve to sit at our table. Changes coming for me are exciting. So if you know it’s painful as it is, it really is here to help you move on. [sic].
She later wrote, “I love to see people bounce back from screwed up situations to end up getting the success, love and happiness they deserve.”
Katie previously shared a series of snaps on Instagram to announce the birth of her daughter, including one of her little girls and photos from the birth where she wore tiger stripe nails in homage to her newborn’s unique name.
Beneath the poignant images, she wrote that she was trapped in her baby bubble but decided to announce the news on Mother’s Day.
Katie wrote: “Officially a mom!!!! I was on some time out in my baby bubble but figured today would be the best day to let you all know.
“We welcomed our beautiful little girl into this magical world. Thaiga Dean (pronounced tiger).
“I never thought I could feel this way, I’m totally in love and thought I had everything in life until she came along. My life is complete.’
