House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock on her gnarly experience filming in a brothel

House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock has spoken out about the “shocking” experience filming scenes for the series in a brothel, where she claims extras were in sex positions for up to 12 hours.

The 22-year-old actress – who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones spin-off – said she felt “overdressed” as she filmed her scenes at the callhouse surrounded by completely naked people for a whole day.

She told the New York Post: “There were extras that we had just met who were 69-ing for 12 hours.

“It’s pretty gnarly, we felt pretty overdressed because everyone else was naked.”

In the fourth episode of the HBO show, her character Rhaenyra is taken to the Westeros capital of King’s Landing, where she visits a brothel with her uncle Daemon (Matt Smith), where the two kiss.

Milly had no idea what to expect as director Clare Kilner made sure she saw the brothel for the first time when she arrived to film her scenes.

She explained: “That was the first time we went through the brothel and he’s walking her around the room with all these other bodies.

“Well, that was pretty shocking. You say, “That’s kinda weird and silly.”

She commended Matt for making her comfortable during the scenes, adding that the couple had an intimacy coordinator who helped them come across as convincing.

It comes after Emma revealed she was kept from dating Emma D’Arcy, who plays the older version of her character.

Milly, who plays Rhaenyra aged 15, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she had never seen Game of Thrones while going through many auditions via Zoom and admitted she was “shocked” to learn how her role really was central .

‘I was surprised. I was just really shocked,” she added, while also revealing that she had to FaceTime Emily Carey and went for a walk with Fabian Frankel (Ser Criston Cole) … although director Miguel Sapochnik stopped her from dating Emma D “Arcy.

“Me and Emma were like, ‘Let’s meet up.’ We wanted to meet up with him [director Miguel Sapochnik] and discuss Rhaenyra’s development as a character,” she said.

“And Miguel didn’t want us to meet – which was really interesting! So we never had that discussion,” she added.

‘Miguel said, ‘Just trust that you both have it.’ I think he was aware that we would try to imitate each other,” Alcock explained.
