Herbert Tennigkeit, star of “Black Forest Clinic”, is dead

Mourning for the actor Herbert Tennigkeit. The Hamburger, who also worked as a speaker, died at the age of 85.

He was known by many as the voice of the villain Skeletor in the animated series He-Man. Also, fans of the “Black Forest Clinic” knew him as Dr. Lau back then. At the age of 85, actor and radio speaker Herbert Tennigkeit died in a clinic in his hometown.


This was announced by his longtime good friend Thomas Speyerer of the German news agency. As a result, the character actor “slept peacefully” on Monday.

Tennigkeit’s starring role was the anesthetist Dr. Laudann in the cult ZDF series “Die Schwarzwaldklinik”, which he starred in 1988 and 1989 in a total of 20 episodes. Anyone who spent his childhood in the 1980s knows his distinctive voice from the German dubbed version of the villain Skeletor in the animated series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” – dark, throaty and hoarse, it gave him great villain charm. .

Also in radio series like “I tre ???” and “Fünf Freunde” Tennigkeit participated, as well as in Karl May settings such as “Durchs wilde Kurdistan”. He appeared on TV between 1971 and 2002 in several episodes of “Tatort” and in two episodes of “Das Traumschiff” in the 1990s. He has also appeared in episodes of “Our Charly”, “The Rescue Pilots”, “The Children of the Alster Valley”, “Großstadtrevier” or “Cruise into Happiness”. In the latter series he had his last appearance in a TV movie in 2008.

Tennigkeit, born near Tilsit (now in the Kaliningrad region of Russia) in 1937, was considered one of the last great literary reciters in the East Prussian dialect.
