Hannah Waterman has married “The Bill” star Huw Higginson in Australia – five months after the death of her famous father Dennis.
Huw, 58, took to Twitter to announce the happy news, writing: “Married my love yesterday. We had the best days.’
He shared a picture of Hannah, 47, who wore a blue patterned dress for the ceremony as they posed on a boat with their 11-year-old son.
Hannah and Huw have been a couple since 2010 after a long friendship of over 10 years.
Hannah acrimoniously split from EastEnders couple Ricky Groves in 2009 after the actress revealed she was having an affair and was leaving for New Year’s Eve.
Ricky further claimed in 2013 that his ex refused to sign the divorce papers.
Hannah revealed in a 2011 interview that their friendship quickly blossomed into a relationship after he stayed with her following his split from his wife Geraldine Dove-Higginson:
“I’ve been friends with Huw for 10 years. We first met when he played my perverted landlord in EastEnders, but we’ve acted in two plays together since then,” she recalled.
“Last year Huw got a bit off with his personal life and I was touring with Calendar Girls so he stayed at my house for a while. He moved in in June and it’s been pretty quick from there!
“We talked early on in our relationship about wanting a family. I’m 35 and didn’t want to wait because as everyone knows, getting pregnant can get harder as you get older.
Higginson, who played the lovable but dimwitted cop George Garfield on The Bill, co-starred alongside Waterman in the 2009 plays Rattle Of A Single Man and Killing Time.
