“Teen Mom” star Leah Messer and her former fiancé, Jaylan Mobley, split on October 11, two months after getting engaged.
The couple gave no reason why they went their separate ways.
Still, fans weren’t immediately concerned about the details — they wondered how the breakup would affect Messer’s three daughters, 12-year-old twins Ali and Aleeah, and her 9-year-old daughter Addie.
The chatter quickly bubbled up on social media. Sure, there were a lot of people who were sad that Messer’s relationship ended, but most of the conversation revolved around the kids.
They lived in the same house as Mobley, 25, after he bought a house in West Virginia on April 1. It was not exactly without scandal when In Touch Weekly discovered that Messer, 30, had sold her house and Mobley hadn’t. Put her on the deed of the new house.
“However, I feel so sorry for her daughters, they must have such whiplash,” one person wrote.
“So the girls were brought in and bonded with another guy who’s gone forever? How sad for them,” wrote a second.
“Poor girls! They have every relationship with her and it’s been really unstable,” said a third.
Mobley gave each of Messer’s girls a ring after he proposed to their mother in Costa Rica.
“When I dreamed of this moment, this was exactly what I had envisioned. A slow, steady, unconditional love, not just for me, but for my three daughters whom I cherish most in life,” Messer wrote after “offering” all four of them.
“Thank you for everything you do for us. @jaylan_mobley We love you to the ends of the earth,” she continued. “It’s just US 4L.”

In a short post on Instagram on October 11, Messer and Mobley announced they were splitting, but they didn’t say why. They had been dating for about a year when Mobley proposed to her.
“While the past year has been extremely exciting for both of us, we have realized that it is best that we walk separate paths,” the statement read. “We are so grateful for the lessons, growth and memories we have had in this relationship.”
“So many of you have watched our love story unfold, and we hope you will continue to watch our stories as we move forward as friends,” it continued. “We will love and respect each other forever, and we ask for privacy as we refocus and get out of this chapter together.”
Messer turned off the comments on the post, but it gained more than 60,000 likes within an hour of posting.
There were no clear indications that things were not going well. The pair last appeared at Cheyenne Floyd’s wedding on September 29 and smiled at photos.
One photo showed Mobley kissing Messer’s hands and in another photo Mobley and Messer posed together in a phone booth.
On September 12, Mobley was “excited” to announce the renovation of her home. He planned to add a basketball court, swimming pool and more to the house. They collaborated with architect Giancarlo Sanna, a designer with over 19,000 followers on Instagram.
When suspicious fans pointed out that Messer’s name was not on the deed of their home, Messer hit back at viewers, saying she trusted her partner.
