Fans of Carrie Underwood say the superstar will never let her husband get away with a recent prank without a serious payback. During a quiet run, the “American Idol” winner showed impressive restraint when her husband, retired NHL player Mike Fisher, tried to scare her. This is what happened…
On September 14, 2022, Fisher shared a video on his Instagram feed, taken while driving his truck down a country road. Seeing his wife of 12 on the run, he said, “Let’s see if we can catch her.”
Then he slowly crept up behind Underwood, then blared his horn, which sounded like a loud train horn—a feature some people add to their vehicles, especially pickup trucks. There are YouTube videos full of people responding to “train horned”, from bending over to yelling.
But Underwood somehow kept her cool, barely flinching, and never interrupting her until the horn blew. She turned to look, and as soon as she saw her husband behind the wheel, she pointed at him and Fisher laughed. The country star then moved in front of his truck, running backwards, gazing down at him jokingly.
Fisher wrote in the caption of his post, “Not my best work, but I had a good laugh nonetheless!”
Fans immediately flooded Fisher’s post with warnings to “be wary,” sure his wife would make him pay for his stunt. Several people reminded him that she is widely regarded as the queen of country music revenge songs, with hits such as “Before He Cheats,” “Blown Away” and “Somethin’ Bad” featuring Miranda Lambert.
One person commented: “Don’t you listen to her songs?! She gets you!”
Another wrote the lyrics to one of her current singles, “‘I’m gonna be your ghost story,’ lol.”
“She gave you the death look at the end,” someone added. “That was funny!”
Another wrote: “She’s going to get you back!! Pay more attention!”
Some people showed empathy for Underwood, writing comments like “Poor Carrie” and “Someone’s retired too long.”
Several people were impressed by how little Underwood flinched at the sound of the horn. One of her close friends, nutritionist Cara Clark, wrote: “Haha you don’t phase her anymore… but now she will be like a goose and never move again.”
Many fans who responded to Fisher’s post said his joke reminded them of a similar 2020 video in which American Idol judge Luke Bryan “train-horned” his wife Caroline. She was so startled that she swerved into the grass on her bike and fell when Luke laughed.
One fan wrote: “@lukebryan and @linabryan3 will show you how” with smiling emojis.
Another suggested: “You and @lukebryan should team up and plan a big prank with Carrie & Caroline”
“@lukebryan @linabryan3 You guys are still the best,” wrote another person.
Since the Bryans are known for making fun of each other, some fans encouraged Underwood to get some great tips from Caroline to get back at her husband.
One wrote: “@carrieunderwood, you should get advice from @linabryan3!”
Meanwhile, it seems that Fisher’s old colleagues want to help Underwood get her sweet revenge. The NHL Alumni Association commented, “@carrieunderwood let’s get @mfisher1212 back in the loop!” and added the silent face emoji.
