Fans Slam ‘The Voice’ Season 22 Format: ‘Unfair’

“The Voice” has changed the live show format multiple times in the past, ranging from making sure every coach has an artist in the finals to no guarantees and back again. The show’s current season seems to have no guarantees, with teams going into the semifinals wildly uneven.

Some fans aren’t happy with the changes, as they previously resulted in fan-favorite new coach Ariana Grande not having any performers make it to the show’s finale. Now the same can happen with a new coach on the show.

During the top 10 reveal episode, Blake had Shelton mark all of his artists as safe, while new coach Camila Cabello allowed one artist in total to make it to the next round of the competition. Gwen Stefani has two artists ahead, while John Legend saw three of his artists safely.

The four artists in the Instant Save all came from Cabello and Stefani’s teams.

Some fans took to the Instagram comments to voice their thoughts on the mood of the show following Tuesday, Nov. 22’s Instant Save.

“I don’t think I can keep watching. These results are appalling,” one person wrote.

Another commented, “I’m very upset about team Blake having all its members again… he had all his members up to the semis last season and he lost one of his performers…”

“Kique and Devix shouldn’t be on the wild card, America saves based on the coach, so unfair,” another commented.

Other people think it’s “disgusting” that Team Blake contestants are still around and other artists aren’t.

“I’m sorry, but the fact that Bryce Leatherwood and Brayden from Blake’s team are still on this goddamn show, and Devix and Kique were even in this situation, makes absolutely no sense. It’s disgusting to look at honestly,” one commented.

In some previous seasons, contestants making it through each week were based on the team they were on, and each round of voting would eliminate contestants evenly across the teams so that each coach would have at least one performer in the season’s finale.

Some fans feel bad for Cabello in Season 22 since it’s her first season and she already has only one performer.

“can’t believe America votes for the coaches and not the performers, 4 in team blake really???” one person commented on an Instagram post.

Another comment on the message reads, “We love you Camila, I’m not happy with the voice, just country music, no adios by any means.”

It’s not the first time fans have been angry at ‘The Voice’. After the season 21 finale, some fans vowed to boycott the show.

Here’s what the “The Voice” teams currently look like as they head into next week’s live shows:
