Euphoria star Jacob Elordi in resurfaced Fashions on the Field photos

He may be a Hollywood heartthrob these days.

But a decade ago, Jacob Elordi was an unknown Australian model whose first taste of fame came at a Fashions on the Field event during racing season.

Photos have resurfaced of the 25-year-old, best known for playing Nate Jacobs on the HBO series Euphoria, wearing some rather questionable attire for Stakes Day 2014.

Rediscovered by Instagram Snark account Celeb Spellcheck, the images show the then 15-year-old actor accepting his award.

The Brisbane native actually won Fashions on the Field twice as a teenager, first in 2012 and then again two years later.

Some of the photos showed a young Elordi wearing a fedora with a white shirt, houndstooth blazer and bow tie.

Other pictures showed Jacob wearing a more sophisticated blue blazer, teamed with a bow tie and plaid fedora, as well as white jeans and tan shoes.

Fans loved the throwback photos, with some saying he looked like a member of the Young Liberals, the youth branch of Australia’s Conservative Party.

“The energy of the private students is strong here,” one wrote, while another added, “The level of the Young Liberal aesthetic.”

“He looks mean to me,” commented one follower.

Others joked that it “must have been a tough year” on Stakes Day for Elordi to win Fashions on the Field in such a lame outfit.

“This is the fedora for me,” wrote one fan.

At the time, Elordi was years away from playing Nate on Euphoria, which catapulted him to world fame.

Last month, he told Britain’s GQ that he had just $400 left when he ended up auditioning for the series in LA and asleep in his car on Mulholland Drive.

Discussing his financial struggles before getting his breakout role, Elordi said, “I didn’t book any jobs, I think I had — I don’t know, $400 or $800 in my bank account — and Euphoria was my last audition before I went home for a while to earn some money and relax.’

Elordi, who grew up in Australia, said he’s been obsessed with acting since he was 12 but has also dreamed of playing rugby professionally.

He said: “From the moment I did a play I was called gay at school. But I had that confidence because I could do both: I was pretty good at sports and I think I was pretty good at theater.

“I felt like I was beyond that, or it made me feel older. It made me smarter. I was never worried that my peers would think I was less than a man.

“And I’ve also done plays with girls’ schools.

“I spend my weekends with the most beautiful women from the school next door and read the most romantic words ever written.”

Elordi’s character in Euphoria is a high school athlete struggling to control his anger issues that mask his sexual insecurities.
