Elizabeth II funeral: Macron breaks dress code

This Monday, September 19th, many leaders gathered in England for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, who departed on September 8th at the age of 96 after 70 years of reign. Accompanied by First Lady Brigitte Macron, the French President and his wife received strict instructions on what to wear for the occasion. According to Stéphane Bern on the France 2 mic, Brigitte Macron wore a black dress with a long Louis Vuitton coat and respected Buckingham Palace’s instructions by wearing a hat.

“She represents France in haute couture,” said Stéphane Bern.

Emmanuel Macron, on the other hand, did not wear the outfit required by the Royal Palace. In fact, the men were instructed to wear loose trousers and a tailcoat, which the head of state did not do.

“There was an option to wear a black city suit,” adds Stéphane Bern.
