All times East.
Jordin and Brandon dance a cha cha to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”. They wear super cute tie-dye outfits and Jordin is actually a really good dancer. It’s not that we thought she wouldn’t be, but she’s known for singing, not dancing and it’s a pleasant surprise to see how good she is. Early in the dance she almost hits a flat split. The song is very slightly to slow down for a cha cha, it feels like, but it’s a great first try. The judges liked it, and Len Goodman praised how clean it was, no tricks. Jordyn and Brandon earn two sixes and two sevens for a 26 out of 40.
Sam and Cheryl dance a foxtrot to “Hold Me Closer” by Elton John & Britney Spears. When they start dancing, Sam is clumsy and seems nervous. He doesn’t feel like someone who will be around for very long, but he does a good job and has fun, so maybe his built-in “Good Morning America” fan base will keep him around. The jury gives him four fives for a 20 out of 40.
Heidi and Artem dance a cha cha to Patti LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade”, although this is more the Pink, Xtina, Mya and Missy version. Anyway, the dance is… OK. She feels very stiff and nervous, not much flashing there. The judges loved the praise, but we were very disappointed. It also appears that this show’s demo doesn’t know who the D’Amelio family is, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Heidi goes home first (or at least very early). Heidi and Artem earn four sixes for a 24 out of 40.
Daniel and Britt dance a tango to Duck Sauce’s “Barbra Streisand”. They look absolutely amazing in bright green ensembles and Daniel is actually a really fun dancer. He is so light on his feet and he doesn’t miss a step. Incredibly well done. The judges loved it, with Len saying he’s so excited to see Daniel develop, and Derek Hough adding that Daniel has great awareness of his body, but he wants to see Daniel go even lower and power the legs. Bruno Tonioli calls him a “magnetic artist.” They give Daniel and Britt three sevens and a six from Len for one 27 out of 40.
In a press release, Disney Plus announced that the Pros’ opening track will be “a gorgeous opening track from Diana Ross & Lizzo’s ‘I’m Coming Out / About Damn Time (Purple Disco Machine Remix)’.”
The press release also teases: “For their first performance, the celebrity and pro duos will perform dances using the jive, tango, quickstep, cha cha, foxtrot, salsa or Viennese waltz.”
The dance styles and songs are as follows (in alphabetical order, not in order of performance):
