Ken Jennings fits well into his new role as Danger! Host. The former contestant became the game show’s official co-host in 2021 following the death of Alex Trebek. Aside from new hosts, there are a few other changes to the show that Jennings admits he’s missing some.
Fans have been watching for 39 seasons Danger! Participants test their knowledge on a variety of topics. Viewers learn more about the three players through introductions and stories during the commercial breaks. The intros and stories are still part of the new format, but one thing has changed.
In earlier episodes, the contestants would march onto the stage when they were introduced. But in Season 39, the show’s players are already on their pedestals. The change in contestant performances is one of the things Jennings misses about the new format.
in one Twitter Video, Jennings had a question and answer session with the audience. When asked what he would change about the show, Jennings replied, “You know what I miss is stepping into the studio now. You know, I know we’re running out of time, but I loved watching the contestants march in.”

Aside from its trivia format, unforgettable attendees, and legendary hosts, Danger! is also known for its sound effects. Who doesn’t love the puzzle music played during Final Jeopardy or the beeps when time runs out? Also, the catchy beep-boop sounds when the category board lights up.
However, the beep-boop sound effects are one of the many changes made to the show. Jennings admits he wishes the producers had kept the sound effects. “I also like the beep-boop-boop-boop-boop-boop when they do the board. But those are things that just got lost through the constraints of time, I think.”
Even former contestant Buzzy Cohen pokes fun at the beep-boop effects. On Cohen’s Twitter page, he posted a video proposing a techno version of the introduction of the categories. Cohen’s suggestion drew laughter and applause Danger! fans.

Jennings isn’t the only one missing the show’s old format. cheetahs! Fans flooded the Twitter comments section with their thoughts on the recent changes. Many agree with Jennngs that the beep-boop and the marching attendees.
“I just thought I missed the beep-beep-boop-boop last night too!!!!! Great minds think alike @KenJenJennings,” one user wrote.
“I miss the contestant walk-in but IIRC @KenJennings it ended up with blind contestant @EddieTimanus on the show. Makes it easier to star on set,” wrote one commenter.
Aside from the contestants’ sound effects and walk-ins, fans also commented on other things they would like to see again.
“I miss the set going red for Double Jeopardy. There was a whole ‘stuff just got real’ vibe that just isn’t there anymore,” responded one viewer.
“I kind of wish they would bring back the audience mumbling at the start of every show,” suggested another fan.
“Bring back the 5 game win limit. I would change that,” replied another commenter.
While fans may not approve of the changes, as with all games Danger! need to adjust the format. While sound effects and other things are subject to change, fans can guarantee that the premise of their favorite trivia show will not be altered.
