Teresa Giudice was saved by the judges after finishing in the bottom two during the season 31 premiere of Dancing With The Stars on the Disney+ service on Monday.
Sex And The City actor Jason Lewis, 51, and his pro partner Peta Murgatroyd, 36, became the first couple to break up after joining Teresa, 50, and her pro partner Pasha Pashkov, 36, also under the last two landed.
In the closing minutes of the two-hour premiere, the judges voted to save Teresa over Jason.
“I’m so sad to have to go home,” Jason said. “Such a wonderful group of people. There is so much talent here and how wonderfully everyone has done it and how everyone has supported it has been amazing.
Jason danced the cha-cha-cha to Daft Punk’s Get Lucky, but the judges weren’t impressed.
“It was a very disappointing performance,” said head judge Len Goodman, 78.
The jury gave them an overall score of 18 out of 40.
Teresa, who flipped a table during their performance, danced the tango to Rihanna’s song We Found Love and the judges gave them an overall score of 20 out of 40.
“It’s a lot harder than I thought,” Teresa said.
Singer Jordin Sparks, 32, who was paired with Brandon Armstrong, was the first of the 16 contestants to hit the dance floor. Jordin and Brandon made the cha-cha-cha into Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
“I won American Idol. I’m going to win that too,” declared Jordin.
“It was clean, it was clear, it was precise,” said Len. “I thought you did a fantastic job.
The jury gave them an overall score of 26 out of 40.
WABC-TV New York weatherman Sam Champion, 61, has been paired with Cheryl Burke. Sam and Cheryl did the foxtrot to Elton John’s Tiny Dancer.
“That was a great first dance,” said Judge Derek Hough, 37. ‘Well done.
“You came out with such a wonderful sunny disposition, however, a few dark clouds have appeared tech-wise,” Len said.
The jury gave them an overall score of 20 out of 40.
Heidi D’Amelio, 50, mother of TikTok star Charlie, coupled with Artem Chigvintsev. Heidi, who said she had been a competitive dancer, danced the cha-cha-cha to the song Lady Marmalade.
“What do we have here, a red-hot Mama,” said Bruno.
The jury gave them an overall score of 24 out of 40.
Coda actor Daniel Durant, 42, who is deaf, was paired with dancer Britt Stewart.
“I’m totally deaf and have been since birth,” Daniel said. “Deaf people can’t hear music, but we can feel it, and I want to show the world that deaf people can dance too!”
Daniel and Britt tangoed to Duck Sauce’s Barbara Streisand.
“First Coda wins an Oscar, next I have to get a mirror ball,” Daniel told the camera. ‘It will happen.’
