The Jenisch Museum in Vevey (VD) is organizing the first stage of a traveling project with contemporary prints on Friday. Under the title “Print Art Now” this exhibition is organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Zurich association Edition VFO (association for original graphics).
The exhibition, which can be seen in the Pavillon de l’estampe until January 15, focuses on current productions of Edition VFO. “Varying patterns, techniques or dimensions, the works on display reveal a wide range of forms and concepts that allow artists to play between tradition and experimentation to innovate contemporary printmaking,” writes the Jenisch Museum in its press release.
The exhibition focuses in particular on the notion of series in contemporary printmaking. “Series, which is very common in printmaking today, allows one to explore the possibilities of the medium and to challenge preconceived notions about its expressive limits,” the press release continues. 17 series will be presented in Vevey, produced by 15 artists and coming from public or private collections.
Edition VFO, whose productions are exhibited in Vevey, was founded in 1948 to promote printmaking as a means of artistic expression. The institution now produces about 40 new works a year. It also serves to bring together different actors, especially artists and printers.
