Chrissy Teigen says she lost her son Jack to an abortion, not a miscarriage.
The 36-year-old TV personality, who has Luna, six, and Miles, four, and is expecting another baby with husband John Legend, tragically lost a baby boy mid-pregnancy in October 2020.
And in a new interview, the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover star opened up about how shocked she was to realize it was an abortion and not a miscarriage.
Chrissy is quoted by The Hollywood Reporter as saying: “Two years ago, while pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of hard and heartbreaking decisions. It became very clear to me in mid-pregnancy that he would not survive, and neither would I without medical intervention.”
She continued: “Let’s call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby who had absolutely no chance of surviving.”
“To be honest, I never connected until a few months ago.”
It was only when the US Supreme Court Roe v. Wade picked up, her husband reportedly helped her realize that she didn’t miscarry. This law protected women’s right to abortion as early as June of this year.
She said: “I shut up, I felt weird that I didn’t get it all like that.
“I told the world we miscarried so naturally the world agreed we miscarried, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage. And I was really frustrated that I hadn’t said what it was
and I felt silly that it took me over a year to actually realize we had an abortion.”
