Brad Pitt makes his art debut

Brad Pitt made a surprise debut as an artist.

The 58-year-old actor unveiled a series of sculptures at the Sara Hildén Art Museum in Tampere, Finland over the weekend as part of a larger exhibition by British artist Thomas Houseago, which also features a series of ceramics by singer Nick Cave , a novice in the field too .

Brad told a Finnish TV channel: “It’s a new world for Nick and me and our first gig. It just feels good.”

The ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ actor explained that the nine works he is showing in the exhibition are about “self-reflection” and “balancing” the bad choices he’s made in his life. These include a series of silicone sculptures in the shape of a house, each struck by a different caliber, and a cast plasterboard “representing a gunfight”.

He said: “For me, it’s about self-reflection. It’s about knowing where I’ve gone wrong in my relationships, where I’m complicit.

“For me, it came out of what I call radical self-inventory, getting really brutally honest with myself and thinking about those I might have hurt if I just took a wrong turn.”

Australian singer Nick’s exhibition is called “The Devil: A Live” and the 17 individual pieces depict “the life of Satan in 17 acts, from innocence to confronting our mortality through experience”.

The glazed ceramic figures are between 15 and 19.5 inches tall and were handcrafted, painted and glazed by the musician in England between 2020 and 2022.

The two stars created their work in dialogue with Houseago, who featured a range of paintings at the exhibition alongside new redwood and plaster sculptures.

Regarding his decision to team up with Brad and Nick, the artist said in a statement, “I’m not an ‘I’. I’m a ‘WE’!”
