Blink-182 have announced they are reuniting for a world tour for the first time in seven years – including dates in Australia and New Zealand.
The American pop punk band, consisting of Travis Barker, Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus, announced the news on social media on Tuesday.
In addition to the tour announcement, Blink-182 will release a new song called “Edging” on Friday.
The world tour is coming down under in February 2024.
The trio begins in Perth on February 9th and will then visit Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before continuing to Auckland and ending in Christchurch on February 26th.
Rise Against will be their opening act for the Australian and New Zealand dates.
Tickets go to the general public on Thursday, October 20 at 1:00 p.m. local time.
The pre-sale begins on Wednesday, October 19 at 1:00 p.m. and ends on Thursday, October 20 at 12:00 p.m.
Blind-182 last toured Down Under in 2013.
At the time, drummer Travis didn’t join the band because he had a fear of flying stemming from a fatal plane crash in 2008.
Bad Religion’s Brooks Wackerman and Tenacious D filled in the sticks.
The band said in a statement in 2013: “The trip to Australia was planned during our European tour last summer. The band knew that Travis’ chances of overcoming his fear of flying, which became even greater after the horrific plane crash in 2008, would be challenging, but we still wanted to play for our fans in Australia.
“The three of us have taken every measure to get us all there in full shape. Travis has been working to overcome his fear of flying. Now that we know we’ll have to make the trip without Travis, our friend Brooks Wackerman has stepped in.
“We love our fans in Australia so cancellation wasn’t an option so we’re still planning on coming and playing some kick ass shows. Mark, Tom and Travis.”
Travis appears to have overcome his fear of flying after boarding a private jet with his wife Kourtney Kardashian for the first time in 13 years last year and traveling to Mexico with his wife Kourtney Kardashian.
Blink-182’s reunion comes seven years after Tom left the group due to a desire to take a different creative direction and focus more on his personal life.
The world tour announcement video contained a very racy innuendo before revealing the news about the concerts.
It panned from actors teasing the news to Travis, Tom and Mark standing and staring at the camera.
The band’s new song, Edging, is out Friday, with a new album coming at an unknown date.
They captioned the Instagram video announcement, “Here we come. The tour is coming. albums are coming. tom is coming Tickets on sale Monday.’
Formed in August 1992 in Poway, California, Blink-182 began with the release of their third album Enema of the State in 1999, featuring the songs What’s My Age Again? as well as All The Small Things and Adam’s Song.
The band began to drift apart in 2002 but they regrouped the following year, however it was short-lived.
Tom left the group in 2005 to focus on his solo project Angels & Airwaves while Travis and Mark continued without him.
Travis survived a plane crash in 2008 that killed four people; he and Adam Goldstein were the sole survivors.
