It’s been an intense week for fans of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” given the rocky finale everyone watched Tuesday night with Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia. On Friday afternoon, another franchise couple announced their split, and this one is sure to get people talking. Clayton Echard and Susie Evans have ended their relationship.
The Instagram post Evans and Echard shared Friday afternoon featured a sweet photo of them together and a lengthy statement. “It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways,” the statement began. They noted it was a “painful decision to make and not taken lightly.”
Some fans of “The Bachelor” speculated that this could come after a major decision Echard and Evans revealed recently. About a month ago, the couple announced that they were moving, but they weren’t moving to the same place together. Echard went to Scottsdale, Arizona, while Evans moved to Los Angeles, California. They insisted that they still be together and visit each other often. However, quite a few ‘Bachelor’ fans feared that this was the beginning of the end of their romance.
“We understand there will likely be a lot of questions about this decision,” the couple added in their breakup. They detailed, “While this last year together has brought us so much joy and so much laughter, there has also been a significant amount of pain.” Echard and Evans noted that they knew there would be a struggle, but “we realized we were unprepared for the outside forces that were hindering our ability to heal not only as individuals, but also as a couple.”
The couple’s statement also noted that they “support each other” while “hoping the other will find happiness and healing”. The Instagram statement quickly gained a lot of support from “Bachelor Nation.” Fellow franchise personalities such as Kelley Flanagan, Nick Viall, Katie Thurston and Kaitlyn Bristowe all left supportive comments within minutes of posting the statement. Fans of “The Bachelor” stepped up to support Echard and Evans as well.
“Sorry to hear this news, but I have no doubt that you will both heal and move on with dignity and grace,” said one fan.
“Ah, I feel like you two were so perfect together. I hope you both find what you are looking for in the future!” added another fan.
“Two very mature people. I wish you both the best of luck,” wrote another.
“While I’m sad that your romantic relationship is coming to an end, I’m glad you both are doing what’s best for yourself and in such a respectful way,” said one supporter. “You are both such sweet, kind, genuine people and I will continue to support you both in your future endeavors.”
There were a handful of comments from “Bachelor” fans who admitted that the news of the breakup didn’t shock them. However, the vast majority of early comments on Instagram favored Echard and Evans.
