Ant and Dec are retiring from Britain’s Got Talent special AND the NTAs

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have both had to withdraw from the special Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician due to illness.

They will also no longer be able to attend the National Television Awards, which are scheduled to take place on Thursday.

The nature of the disease was not disclosed.

Stephen Mulhern will replace her as presenter of Britain’s Got Talent.

A spokesman for Britain’s Got Talent told MailOnline: “Ant and Dec are both unwell and have put off any work commitments until they recover.

“Unfortunately, this means they were unable to film Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician. While we wish them a speedy recovery, we are delighted to confirm that Stephen Mulhern, BGT’s favorite magician, has stepped in.’

Another spokesman said they had “put all work commitments on hold”.

Their most recent work assignment was in South Africa filming for the All Stars series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The BGT special was announced earlier this week and there is currently no on-air date.

MailOnline has contacted Sprecher for more information.

The NTAs are a major event for the dynamic hosting duo.

Last year, her won Best Presenter Gong for an epic 20th consecutive year, with an emotional ant clutching his wife Anne-Marie as the news broke.

In 2021, the Geordie duo edged out competition from Piers Morgan, Holly Willoughby, Alison Hammond and Bradley Walsh to once again win the coveted gong.
